How does Sound Healing work?

‘Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.’

Sound Healing, also referred to as a Sound Bath or Sound Journey, uses vibrations from sound waves at specific frequencies to help restore the body’s natural balance. Think of it as a soothing massage, but instead of touch, sound waves are the medium! These vibrations travel through the body, triggering relaxation responses in the brain and guiding us into a deep, meditative state of calm. In this state of profound relaxation, both the body and mind can recharge and reset effectively. Research has found that certain sound frequencies can soothe the nervous system, ease stress and anxiety, alleviate pain, and even boost the immune system.

Everyone experiences Sound Healing differently. Some notice immediate benefits during the session, while others may feel effects a day or two afterward. Regardless, some of the wonderful, positive effects you might notice include:

  • Feeling calmer and less stressed

  • Looser, more relaxed muscles

  • A deep sense of relaxation

  • Enhanced creativity

  • Pain relief

  • Improved sleep quality

  • A better mood

  • A clearer, quieter mind

  • Heightened body awareness

Health Disclaimer

While Sound Healing sessions are generally safe and beneficial, it may not be recommended for individuals with certain conditions such as epilepsy, severe mental health disorders or those with pacemakers or metal implants in the body. It is not suitable for anyone who is in the first trimester of pregnancy.

If you are booking a swimming pool-based session it is inadvisable to attend if you have any open wounds, skin infections or skin conditions that could be affected by the water.

Please carefully assess your individual circumstances before booking a session, and consult with a medical practitioner prior to attending if needed.

My Sessions

I provide two very different Sound Healing experiences locally:

1. Sound Healing group sessions at the beautiful Japanese Temple, Newbury.

Located in the grounds of Donnington Grove County Club in Newbury these sessions are 75 minutes long and I offer Outdoor Sunset Sound Healing group sessions (during the summer months only) and also Indoor Crystal Harp Sound Healing group sessions within the temple itself.  As a special addition I provide memory foam inflatable mats to enhance your comfort.

2. Floating Sound Healing group sessions at Thamesdown Pool, Swindon.

These sessions are very unique and promote deep relaxation. Lasting an hour long you will be floating in a heated hydrotherapy swimming pool. I provide body floats to fully support you. (see below for further information about the specifics of a Floating session).

THE SANCTUARY OF
SOUND

In a Sound Healing session, you’ll have the chance to fully relax by lying down in complete stillness, with no distractions or responsibilities—just peaceful calm. The session begins with gentle breathwork and a brief meditation to help you settle into a relaxed state before the sounds begin.

I carefully design my Sound Healing sessions using some of the most soothing and calming sounds in sound therapy, reflecting my unique style. During the session, you’ll be immersed in a blend of beautiful instruments, including the pure and otherworldly tones of a stunning instrument called the Crystal Harp—which truly lives up to its heavenly name!

In addition, I’ll play a variety of other gentle, calming instruments. Simply allow the soft, resonant sounds to envelop you, and by the end, you’ll feel lighter, more balanced, and uplifted.

What Is a Floating Sound Healing Session?

Experience a truly unique and deeply immersive sound journey with a Floating Sound Healing session.

Imagine a candlelit hydrotherapy pool, gently heated to a luxurious 34°C (like a giant hot tub), with soft, dreamy light projections dancing across the ceiling. As you float effortlessly on a supportive body float—customised for your comfort—let the soothing sounds of healing instruments wash over you in an atmosphere of total serenity. For one blissful hour, you'll be completely surrounded by peace and sound.

Water and sound share a natural connection—water is an excellent conductor of sound, which means the vibrations travel more effectively, enhancing the therapeutic effects of the session. The buoyancy of the water allows your body to feel weightless, encouraging deeper physical and mental relaxation.

The warm, therapeutic temperature of the hydrotherapy pool also offers additional benefits, such as full muscle relaxation, pain relief, and improved circulation.

You’ll be provided with a supportive float device featuring an adjustable inflatable pillow, ensuring your head and body are comfortably cradled so you can fully let go and melt into the experience.
